With no idea how to train for our first HYROX Doubles, my friend and I turned to our unofficial coach: ChatGPT. But the experience ended once the workout session was over. There were no insights into how we performed together and what our individual strengths were.
Leading up to race day, we still weren’t confident in how to divide the work or pace ourselves, so much of our strategy came down to instinct and figuring it out as we went!
Disclaimer: This is an independent product concept it is not affiliated with ROXFIT or HYROX.

The Problem
Doubles athletes share one race, but most training tools are designed around individual performance. This leaves teams to piece together how they should train together, divide stations, understand their strengths, and prepare a race-day strategy.

What I learned: Doubles athletes need more than shared workouts
I looked to the HYROX community to understand whether other Doubles athletes faced similar challenges. Three needs consistently emerged: individual progression, team insight,
and race preparation.

01
One team, different athletes.
Train for individual strengths. People have different strengths, weaknesses, and training needs.
Opportunity
Give each athlete personalized training while keeping both connected to a shared goal.
02
Training together isn’t enough.
Athletes need to understand their strengths, station splits, pacing, and how they perform together.
Opportunity
Turn training data into shared insights to help partners understand how to work better as a team.
03
Training should inform race day.
Teams need a way to translate what they learn in training into decisions around pacing, workload, and station strategy.
Opportunity
Use individual + team performance to build a race strategy grounded
in how both athletes actually train.

The Product Gap
I chose ROXFIT as the foundation because it already supports HYROX training and can generate Doubles workouts. However, the experience stops there, there is no shared progress or connection between training and race-day strategy.

Doubles training shouldn’t mean doing everything together. Each athlete needs to improve individually, while staying connected to how the team is progressing and preparing for race day.

Learnings & looking ahead
This project started with a personal challenge, not a design brief. Training for my first HYROX Doubles race made me curious about the friction we encountered and whether there was a better way to approach it.
It reminded me that meaningful design opportunities don’t always start with a defined problem statement, sometimes they come from being curious about the experiences around you, noticing what isn’t working, and asking “What could this look like if it worked better?”
Moving forward I want to keep bringing that same curiosity into different spaces and turning real-world observations into opportunities to design, test, and learn.
